The Return of the Botch
As everyone who was there last Sunday knows, we've implemented a slightly-altered version of the New WoD dice-rolling system because we all like botches
Modified System:
- *If* (a) no successes are rolled (i.e., no 8s, 9s, or 10s), AND (b) one or more 1's are rolled --> Botch.
- Also, if rolling a Chance Die (because the dice pool was reduced to 0 or less because of penalties), a 1 is also a Botch.
Note:
- All die are still rolled at difficulty 8 (so 8s, 9s, and 10s count as successes)
- 10's are re-rolled as normal (except in special situations like the Gangrel and Nosferatu clan weaknesses)
- 1's do not subtract from successes, as normal
In case it needs mentioning, a "botch" = a Dramatic Failure (as the World of Darkness Rulebook calls it), they're the same.
The effect is to make botches slightly more common, which we all like
